This home is a shining example of why, sometimes, form follows function.  We originally planned for the garage to be under the second story, but then the client decided they needed more living space.  However the living space they required was not as large as the garage initially was.  This led us to push in the bottom floor enough to suit their needs, without changing the top floor.  This is the main reason you see the second floor cantilevered, or hanging over, from the first floor wall.
